SCC** (Safety Certificate Contractors) Certification

In May 2011 HELMKE received the SCC** after having passed all corresponding tests and audits. The SCC** is the so-called “great unlimited SCC certificate”. The certification confirms that the company established a (high standard) safety system that is actively practiced.
The Safety Certificate Contractors (SCC) is a guideline of rules and standards for a certifiable management system. It was developed in the petrochemistry for companies that want to act as contractors and it unites the interests of occupational safety as well as health and environmental protection. So it is a combined management system for health and safety and environmental protection. An individual-related certification also belongs to the SCC rules and standards. The personal certification is valid for several years (at present 10 years) and is recorded in a personal safety pass in which also changes of employment may be noted. In companies certified according to the SCC 90% of the staff (that is operative at customer’s) need to have a valid safety pass.

At a multitude of companies of the petroleum and chemical industry the certification according to the SCC** rules and standards is considered as precondition to work as a technical service provider, the so-called contractor. In order to guarantee their quality standards, other branches of industry too increasingly only charge contractors with SCC certificate.
