Dipl.-Ing. Johann Helmke founded the business in 1922 as a company specialized in electrical engineering; after World War II, he tirelessly invested his energy in the successful reconstruction and development of the company.

His successor was Dr. Dr. Norbert Helmke, who, from 1954 on, laid the foundations for today’s size of the group with his courageous internationalization efforts and his pioneering achievements regarding the stock keeping of brand new high voltage electric motors. Today Helmke offers a complete motor/drive/generator solution for most industrial applications. Since 2011 Titus Helmke is leading the Helmke group of companies as sole proprietor and with unlimited personal liability.
